Betty Lou Hurst, resident of Port Aransas, TX since 2007 and longtime resident of Wichita, KS passed away on February 17th and went to join her husband and true love, William Fahy (Bill) Hurst, who preceded her in death in 2008. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She loved her grandchildren dearly. She loved the mountains, plains, and the beach and chose the beach for her final years. She loved gardening, reading, bird watching, playing weekly bridge with her girlfriends, traveling, and cooking wonderful meals of beans and corn bread or chicken and noodles when her kids came to visit. She was a gracious hostess and her home was often the gathering spot for family, friends, and Winter Texans. Betty, age 83, was born on December 19, 1932 to Philip Payne and Leona Payne of Danville, KS. She is preceded by death, by her husband, her parents, her brother, Robert Payne, and her great grandson, Lincoln William Hurst. She is survived by her brother, Stan Payne, of Attica, KS, her son and daughter-in-law, Trahy and Beth Hurst of Manhattan, KS, daughters and son-in-laws, Julie and Jim Wade of Llano, Tx and Gail and Bob Stubbs of Spicewood, Tx, and Grandchildren Karissa Wade, Will Hurst, Matt Hurst, Mary Beth Hurst, Brittany Stubbs, Charlie Wade, Debbie Hanson, Jason Stubbs, and Patricia Watts, and Great granddaughter, Hazel Joy Hurst. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Monday, February 22, 2016, at Resthaven Mortuary. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on February 23, 2016 at Resthaven.
