Benjamin Ralph Franklin, 95, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at his home in Goddard, Kansas. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, being one of 4 brothers which included twin brother, Bob and brothers, Bill and Ralph, all who grew up working in their father's mercantile, butcher shop during the days of depression and later working on a farm in Missouri.
Later, after working the family ranch in Missouri, Ben ventured out on his own where he lived life as a cowboy, rancher, and bronco rider at various locations across the country. He was a veteran, having served in the Korean War, attended the University of Arkansas, was a devout Catholic, who was sure his children made it to every religion class, and after studying with Vidal Sassoon, become the owner of Ben's Hair Care, on Main Street, in Goddard where he worked as a barber and hair stylist for 60 years.
When not busy at work, Ben was a member of the charitable, Catholic fraternal organization, The Knights of Columbus, was an accomplished painter with his chosen mediums being pastels and oils, enjoyed ballroom and western dancing at the Cotillion, and was a proud Goddard resident for over 50 years.
Ben is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Franklin, all siblings except Bob, and those lovingly left to remember him are: his two daughters, Lisa Franklin and Lori Davis and four grandchildren: Anna Langston, Grace Davis, Alex Davis, and Julia Davis.
A funeral service for Benjamin will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Church of the Holy Spirit, 18218 US-54, Goddard, Kansas, 67052.
