Barbara Jean (Demoret) Breitenbach, 76, born in Lyons, KS on June 28, 1939 to Paul and Effie Pearson Demoret, passed away from this life on January 13 in Wichita, KS, from complications due to a lifelong struggle from diabetes. She lived in Wichita most of her life and graduated from West High, and earned a Bachelor's degree & Master's degree in Education at Wichita State University. She married James F. Breitenbach on Dec.30, 1961. She started her career as a teacher at Harry Street Elementary, worked as a travel agent at NBW Travel, where she learned the joy of traveling and retired as a civil service employee with the Air Force at the Boeing Company. She enjoyed volunteering and did so with Wesley Friends, Botanica and the Wichita Art Museum. Barbara was a world traveler, enjoyed many cruises and never met a stranger. Her parents preceded her in death. Survivors include, her cousin and close friend, Valorie (Dan) Gean from Derby, cousins Dale (Sharon) Myers of Ada, OK, Floyd (Carla) Pearson, Margie (Jim) Bell all of McPherson, Millie Davis, Dee Stricker, of Hutchinson, Cindy Bonebreak, Abilene, Texas and Glynn (Pat) Luginbill of Wichita. Also her dear friend of over fifty years, Sue Cressler. Also a good friend who always got her to the airport, Debbie Perry. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi, where she was a member, at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Francis of Assisi or to the American Diabetes Association of Wichita.
