Bill was born on July 26, 1931 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to the late
William Michael Lenart and Anna Mary Sarisky Lenart of Carteret, New
Jersey. He attended school in Carteret and on February 14, 1952, enlisted
in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Upon completion of his first
enlistment, he returned to Laredo, Texas where he was previously stationed
and first met his wife to be, Maria Medina. They were married on July 8,
1956 in Laredo and were married for 55 years. Bill and Maria both decided
a career in the Air Force would be a good choice. Bill retired from the
Air Force in May of 1972. Bill, Maria and their children, Katharine and
William, Jr. retired to Wichita Falls where he had been previously
stationed. Bill’s Air Force career, mainly in the Logistics (Supply) and
Aircraft Support Sections led to a similar career of 23 years plus at
Sheppard Air Force Base, doing what he did in the military. He worked for
the ENJJPT program on Sheppard, starting with Northrop and retiring with
DynCorp. After retirement, Bill and Maria spent years traveling until
complications with a health condition (COPD) prevented further travel.
Bill’s hobbies included gardening and a love for music and downloading of
music. He also enjoyed his workshop where he was a talented craftsman and
handyman.
Survivors are his wife, Maria Lenart of Wichita Falls; daughter, Kathy
Lyons and husband, Ray of Waco, TX; son, Willie Lenart and wife, Gayle of
Wichita Falls; grandchildren Bryan, Daniel, Kayla, James, Matthew and
Alicia; a sister, Nancy Kuchma of New Jersey.
The family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909
Johnson Rd., 76310, to Faith Mission, 1300 Travis St., Wichita Falls, 76301
or to any favorite charity.
