He was born on December 13, 1963, in Baltimore, Maryland, to William M. Lake and Frances Lake.
Scott was preceded in death by his beloved father on December 8, 1999, and his wife, the love of his life, Shirley Dawson Lake, on September 27, 2022.
Scott is survived by his beloved mother, Frances Lake of Wichita Falls, Texas, with whom he had a very close bond. He is also survived by a sister Jeanne Lake Petrosian and husband Henry of Wichita Falls, Texas; brother Michael Lake and wife Kim Lake of Princeton, Texas; nephews and nieces, Chad McAda, Michael McAda, Jenna Smith and husband Aaron Smith, Alexandria Lake and husband James Lake, Elena Lake, Lauren Morris and husband Jared Morris; great nephew and nieces, Hayden McAda, Kasen McAda, Ben McAda, Olivia Lake and Charlotte Morris; granddaughter Lily and his fur baby Bella.
Scott could not join the Armed Forces as he wanted; however, he supported our military men and women through his work and by supporting the Wounded Warriors and the POW programs.
Employed by Work Services Corporation, Mesquite Dining Hall, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, for over 20 years, Scott found friendships and a second family.
Scott is an alumnus of Burkburnett High School, where he was a member of the Burkburnett High School Marching Band. He loved playing the tuba; the louder he could play it, the happier he was. Scott's love for music resulted from his childhood home being filled with music from his dad's reel-to-reel. He loved all genres of music, but his favorite dance music was from the band Depeche Mode. Family and friends will never forget his happy, quirky dance, especially when he danced to Depeche Mode.
Other passions of Scott’s were fishing, fast cars, and sweets.
Scott's favorite holiday was Christmas. He loved traveling to McKinney, Texas, each year to attend Dickens of a Christmas with his brother and family. His favorite Christmas memory was brandy snifters with his dad and brother on Christmas Day.
Scott's strength and courage in his life journey were inspirational. He never gave up and fought the warrior's battle with every obstacle he faced. Scott found great happiness in the simple things in life; we all can learn from this because “It is the sweet simple things of life which are the real ones after all.”
Scott loved with all his heart and was utterly selfless. Ensuring that those around him were happy and cared for was his definition of being a good husband, son, uncle, and brother, and he did just that. Scott was a humble man and would probably disagree with this homage, but without a doubt, every word is true.
Scott was love. Scott was a very good man.
