Robert Hinkle, 85, of Wichita Falls passed away Monday, July 15, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 19, 2013 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Gardner of Legacy Church of God officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park, Garden of Angels. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 at the funeral home.
Mr. Hinkle was born April 25, 1928 in Devol, OK to the late William R. Hinkle, Sr. and Lena Mae (Glidewell) Hinkle. He was married to Grace Miracle Hinkle and she preceded him in death in 1952. He later married Madlyn Addison Hinkle and they moved to Wichita Falls in 1954 where she also preceded him in death in 2000. He was a longtime member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. Robert was employed as a salesman for Nunn Electric and retired after 37 years of service and was well known. He was actively involved and was a longtime sponsor of 4-H, FFA and Young Farmers in this area for many years. Robert loved to bird hunt and enjoyed most all sports. He and Madlyn traveled extensively both home and abroad.
Robert was also preceded by two brothers, Horace and J. C. Hinkle.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlene Hicks and husband, Joe of Wichita Falls; a son Dennis Hinkle and wife, Wyvonna of Kamay; a sister, Mary Louise Mainelli of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Bryan Pepper and wife, Tracey, Michael Hicks and wife, Shannon, Bobby Hinkle, Tina Barmore and Sherry Syptak, all of Wichita Falls, Krista Taylor of Duncan, OK and Terrry Wooten of Iowa Park; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who thought of him as Dad.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
