William Groce Harrison, III was born on January 19, 1934 in Jacksonville, Florida. He comes from a long line of medical practitioners dating back nine generations. Mr. Harrison's uncle Tinsley Harrison wrote "Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine". This world-renowned book is still used today in all medical University's worldwide.
The family moved from Jacksonville, Florida to Birmingham, Alabama, then to Wichita Falls, Texas where Dr. William Harrison Jr. practiced medicine for many years.
William G Harrison III is a 1951 graduate of Mc Callie Military and College Preparatory School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After graduation, he attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia where he met and married Jane Grace Napier. Shortly thereafter, they moved from Virginia to Wichita Falls, Texas.
In Wichita Falls, Mr. Harrison secured a position with Dow Well Incorporated, a division of Dow Chemical. He was the area field engineer and area sales representative. After three years with Dow Well, Mr. Harrison, at the age of 26, started his own company, which is still thriving today. It is currently the largest producer of chemical sticks in the world for the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Harrison's company is known as Select Industries Inc. A quick summary of Mr. Harrison's company's activities can be seen in the book titled "Texas Petroleum, the Unconventional History". This book lists unique companies that produce for the oil and gas industries. Select Industries, Inc. is very active and successful today, producing thousands of sticks sold world- wide.
In 2001, Eddie Huber launched his career and relationship with Select Industries, became an active partner, and is now President of Select Industries. Select Industries Inc. has been in business for over 50 years.
In 1988, Mr. Harrison's first wife passed away; and approximately a year and a half later, he married Tina Marie Wonsang.
Mr. Harrison had three siblings: Mabel H Luxenberg and Rhoda Katherine Johnson (who are deceased) and Dr. Lee B Harrison, who is practicing dentistry in Stephenville, Texas.
Mr. Harrison has four children and one grand child. Mr. Harrison's fourth child, William G Harrison IV (Billy), passed away into April 2012.
Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife Tina Marie Harrison, his 3 daughters: Katherine Jean Raney (Vern), Cindy Nosser and her son Chris, Susan Vaters (David). Tina has five children: Blanca W. Farmer (Bobby), Wellington E. Wonsang Jr., Willmer B. Wonsang (Gay), Willmington E. Wonsang (Debbie), and Winston E. Wonsang (Rebecca). Tina has 14 grandchildren.
Mr. Harrison's Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held January 5th 3PM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Chapel.
