Tami Kay Wright, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, best friend, and native Texan was received peacefully by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 29, 2021 in Spokane, Washington. Tami was born on October 4, 1958 in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas as the second of three children to Jerry Floyd Briscoe and Barbara Ann Gilkerson Briscoe of Hamlin, Texas. Tami met her husband, Stuart, in 1976 through a mutual high school friend, and were married on April 29, 1977 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Due to her father’s oil company career, Tami lived in a variety of Texas cities growing up including Austin, Abilene, Hamlin, Houston, Iowa Park, White Settlement, and Fort Worth. Tami was a highly skilled homemaker and adaptive military spouse during Stuart’s Air Force career that involved a total of 13 moves over a 23 year period. In addition, she supplemented the household income through work in five day care organizations, and was employed as a special education aide for the Wichita Falls ISD for over a decade. As a pastor’s wife and church secretary, Tami was also a tremendous support for Stuart’s bivocational pastorates in several churches in North Texas. She poured much love and practical wisdom into her children and grandchildren. She was hard working, fun to be with, witty, full of life, and possessed an unfiltered honesty with people. She was also generous and compassionate, especially where children were concerned.
Tami is survived by her husband of 43 years, Stuart; daughter, Sarah Shelden and husband, Todd of Kettle Falls, Washington, and children Avery, Zackary, and Matthew; daughter, Heather Andis and husband, Christopher of San Antonio, Texas and children, Caitlin and Benjamin, brother, Jerry Briscoe II of Hamlin, Texas, sisters, Cathy Ashworth of Durango, Colorado and Michelle Wiggins of Bedford, Texas, aunt Peggy Hallmark of Lockney, Texas and many much-loved relatives and friends from many states.
