Susie’s life was full of adventure from the day she came into this world. Second born of five girls to Herbert & Barbara McCracken, she was always a part of her sister’s lives showing love and compassion for them in all circumstances throughout her life. Numerous childhood friends remained loyal and dedicated to her for her entire life. Constant and enduring throughout her magnificent journey were Kathy and Kelly always loving her, never wavering no matter the obstacle.
Susie dedicated her entire adult lifetime’s work to her father’s business, H.L. McCracken Engineering, in many area’s becoming the vital backbone for office operations after the death of Herbert spanning over 50 years. She had a passion for the oil industry and pleasing her father.
Susie’s life became full of joy and happiness in 1977 when she met her lifelong best friend and soulmate Fred. They were inseparable throughout the 46 years they spent in love, seeking to love each other deeper by the day and were married on June 22, 1979. Fred became the happiest man alive . On October 04, 1981 Deric was born as the joy of Susie and Fred’s life. Deric immediately took over her heart and captivated her attention for their whole life together. Susie enjoyed watching youth sports , baseball being her favorite. She loved going to the NCAA Men’s College Worlds Series, watching the Texas Rangers and the MSU Basketball programs . She was a dedicated RV’er enjoying many thousands of miles traveling in her Motorhome and visiting 38 states in the USA. She was health conscious walking over 5 miles daily nearly every day. She dedicated her life to the happiness of her family and her deep love of God and Jesus Christ. She was kind, dependable, trustworthy, loved everyone she knew expecting nothing in return. She loved playing throw & fetch with her wonderful pets GiGi & Odee.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Alexander Gentry, father Herbert McCracken, sister Cary Likins, nephews Corey Meeks & Scotty Crenshaw, grandparents William & Beauford Gates.
Survived by husband Fred E Gentry, son Deric L Gentry wife Libby, bonus children Julie Gentry Spence, & Kevin Gentry wife Casey, sisters Mary Kimbell husband David, Ann Reed husband Scott, Cissy Leming husband Paul, brother in laws Danny Gentry, Jimmy Gentry wife Sharon, grandchildren Madison Spence, Logan Spence wife Morgan, Autumn Gentry, Abigail Craig husband Chance, Nolan Gentry, Zachary Gentry, Lainey Gentry, Jude Gentry, Emalee Gentry, Mary Claire Gentry, bonus grandchildren Max Kolar, Cee Cee Kolar, Ellie Kolar, great children Heidi and Tate and many loved nephews and nieces. Grateful praise go out to the doctors , nurses, & staff of Plano Baylor Scott White Stroke Unit in Plano Texas for the care & love they gave us during our long battle for life. Special gratitude to Dr Scott & Judy Fenton & their blessed Meadows Baptist Church of Plano Tx for the constant prayers and love for our time in Plano. Donations in memory of Susie may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls for the superb care and affection of love demonstrated by the nurses, staff, and doctors or First Christian Church of Wichita Falls where Susie felt love, affection and was a member and regular attendee.
Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Thursday March 21, 2024 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Friday March 22, 2024 at First Christian Church of Wichita Falls, TX with burial to follow in Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park.
