Born on February 7, 1950, in Duluth, MN, to Kenneth Leroy Nelson and Joyce (McDonald) Fuller, Scott dedicated his life to serving others. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later dedicated his career to the US Postal Service, where his mechanical expertise and problem-solving skills were invaluable.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Scott was a devoted family man of 7 children. At the heart of his life was his beloved wife, Bennie. Together, they built a loving and blended family, embracing Laura Wooster and her husband Kevin, Pam Stegall and her husband Rufus, David Canada and his wife Christie, Dana Marney and her husband Jeff, Steve Barton and his wife Kari, Judy Duke and her husband Brady, and their adopted son, David Nelson, and his wife Nancy. This extended family, made up of children, spouses, and in-laws, created a loving embrace of family. He also cherished his siblings: his sisters, Lynn Howard, and her husband G.P., and Lisa Johnson, and his brother, Brady Nelson, and his wife Carla and brother-in-law Greg Colberg.
Scott was a beloved "Pops" to his 21 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren, always eager to share his wisdom and enthusiasm. He enjoyed spending time in his garage, where he pursued his passion for mechanics, often creating unique and exciting projects for his grandchildren, including building racing go-carts that brought countless hours of joy.
Scott possessed a remarkable intellect. He had a voracious appetite for knowledge and could recall information with astonishing accuracy. He instilled a love of learning in his family and will be remembered for his sharp wit and engaging conversations.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Becky Colberg. He leaves behind a void that will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or The Humane Society.
Pops, may you rest in peace, knowing your love and legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those you cherished.
