He was an avid sports fan, a Veteran of both the U.S. Navy and the Army, a Taxi driver for over 30 years after his service, and one of the kindest, most generous men who has ever lived. He loved music. He had an incredible voice and spent time singing for cover bands like The Evergreen Highway in and around Wichita Falls. He passed this love to his daughter. Sharing music of all kinds with her and taking her to awesome concerts like The Jacksons Victory tour, Diana Ross, and Madonna. He shared his love of sports with her too. They took in tennis matches, basketball games, and football games. He made sure she understood the scoring, rules, and snack requirements of being a good spectator. Robert loved people and learning their stories. When family members would suggest a less dangerous line of work than driving a Taxi, he would explain that talking to people was his favorite part of life. He was the epitome of the expression ‘be interested, not interesting’, and everyone loved him for it. He was there for you when you called on him, always up for an adventure, and never forgot your birthday.
He is survived by his daughter Carrie Lynn Murphy and husband Bryan, and grandsons Tanner Brewer and wife Zoe, and Breckin Murphy. His surviving siblings are brother Larry Norris and wife Debbie of Iowa Park, Sisters Kathryn Chancellor and Husband Mike, Lisa Norris, and Becky Norris of Wichita Falls.
A funeral service for Robert will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
