Phillip “Felipe” Hernandez, 81, of Wichita Falls passed away Friday, August 23, 2013 in Wichita Falls. A funeral mass has been scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church officiated by Father John Pacheco. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
Phillip was born February 13, 1932 in Wichita Falls to Teodosio and Louisa Hernandez. September 1, 1956 he married Juanita Costillo in Seymour, TX and together they raised eight children. Phillip proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was a letter carrier for the Post Office for over 20 years. Before becoming disabled he was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He loved to cook for his family on the weekends. Phillip was a strong, loving and supportive man who made his family the center of his life.
Mr. Hernandez is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Zamora this year; and two brothers, Raymondo Hernandez, and Paul Hernandez.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Juanita Hernandez; seven devoted children and their spouses, Phillip Hernandez Jr., Juanita and Rubin Quintana, Hilton and Patricia Hernandez, Glenn and Ingered Hernandez, Raymond Hernandez, Regina and Jose Perez all of Wichita Falls, and Richard Delarosa of Dade City, FL; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Mary Hernandez of Fort Worth; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and twenty-eight great-great-grandchildren.
A rosary and vigil will begin at 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2013 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Deacon Anastasio Perez. Visitation has been scheduled for 7:00-8:00 p.m., Monday following the vigil service.
