Peggy was born on May 2, 1934 to Herb and Zetta Cannedy in Wichita Falls, Texas. Peggy grew up in a large, loving family with four brothers and four sisters who would remain close all of their lives. Peggy graduated from Petrolia High School and after that she went to work for Miller & Miller Freight Company in Wichita Falls.
In 1954, Peggy met TSgt Tom Perkins when he was stationed at Sheppard Air Force base. They married less than a year later and would go on to be happily married for fifty-five years and have two children, Connie Lynn and David Allen. In 1971, Peggy and Tom moved their family back to Wichita Falls after Tom retired from the Air Force. They were previously stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming; Ogden, Utah; Omaha, Nebraska; Grand Forks, North Dakota; and Vandenberg AFB, California. Peggy and Tom became faithful, life long members of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls along with their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Peggy enjoyed time with friends and her large extended family. She would go on to care for and have close relationships with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who referred to her lovingly as “Nana.”
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Thomas George Perkins; and her siblings Paul Cannedy, Mac Cannedy, Joyce Dowdy, Glendale Cannedy, Harlan Cannedy, and Sue Ann Shaffer.
Peggy is survived by daughter Connie Griffith and husband Paul of Wichita Falls; son David Perkins and wife Becky of Wichita Falls; granddaughter Kimberly Tigrett and husband Stan; grandson Lee Griffith and wife Christina; granddaughter Morgan Briggs and husband Josh; granddaughter Madison Tatum and husband Will; seven beloved and adored great grandchildren; her sisters Nancy Pepper and Janis McCain and many nieces and nephews.
