Paul G. Mercer of Wichita Falls, Texas passed from this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on April 12th, 2023 at the age of 98. Paul was born on May 25, 1924 in Burns, Wyoming to Lester Mercer Sr. and Flora (Whitehead) Mercer. After high school he proudly served in the Marines in World War II. In 1949 he graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in Education. Paul married Joyce Mills on April 9, 1955 in Burlington, Colorado.
Paul worked for the Air Force for 42 years as a civilian employee. Much of that time was spent at Sheppard Air Force Base as a technical writer. Paul was very active in Trinity Presbyterian Church. He loved all sports. He taught his kids how to play them and he loved to watch his son play competitive tennis for Hirschi High School. He also loved to watch sports on television especially football and tennis. Paul was always outdoors, mowing his lawn, and working in his flower and vegetable gardens.
Paul’s servant heart, friendliness, enjoyment of life and giving personality will be greatly missed by all. His love for his family, service to Trinity Presbyterian and Sheppard Air Force Base, and love for his neighbors in Wichita Gardens and Royal Estates was always evident.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Mercer Sr. and Flora Mercer, 2 brothers and 6 sisters: Vera Mary Mercer (died at age 3), Teresa Merle Mercer (died at 6 months old), Lester Mercer Jr., Clarence Mercer, Hope Tepley, Faith Kincaid, Lois Sandercock, Agnes Mercer (died at age 21 in nursing school), and his wife Joyce. Paul is survived by his sister Rosella, her children Scott & Marla, by his daughters Rene, & DeAnn (David) their children Erica (Blake) & Daniel (Christina) and his son Stephen (Meredith) and their children, Brendan, Avery, Sarah Beth, Ian, & Addyson. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren McKenna (Erica) and Jaxson & Emma (Daniel).

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, April 21, 2023 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home with burial to follow in Crestview Memorial Park.
