Mary Francis Meyer, 90, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020.
A viewing will be at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home on December 29th and 30th for anyone who would like to pay their respects. There will be a private graveside service for family only. There will be a notification of Celebration of Life for Mary later in the spring when Covid19 is not a threat.
Mary was born on April 21, 1930, in Denton, Texas to C.U. and Aline Greene. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1947, and later received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from Midwestern State University. She taught for WFISD for 35 years at several elementary schools, (Hirschi and Barwise Jr. Highs and Hirschi, Rider, and Wichita Falls High Schools) and then ended her career monitoring student teachers.
Mary loved life, particularly her 2 daughters (her lifetime best friends), her grandchildren, and the love of her life, Travis Meyer; her husband of 64 years. She enjoyed traveling with Travis all over the world and her “daughter” trips. She was active in her church, Wesley Methodist, teaching Sunday School and assisting wherever she was needed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis, both her parents, and her brother.
Survivors include her 2 daughters: Vicki Walker and husband Brent, and Angela Hale and husband Greg, along with 5 grandchildren: David Hale, Natalie Catron, Kristen Jeffries, Lanelle Woodruff, and Luke Walker, as well as 6 great-grandchildren: Caitlin, Emma, Anastasia, Trigg, Shelby, and Dane, and one great-great-granddaughter: Nehlani, whom she was never able to meet because of the Covid19 virus.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
