Mary Jane (Taylor) Hayden, 88, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, in Wichita Falls, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, July 2, at Crestview Memorial Park. A Catholic Rosary and visitation will be held from 6pm to 7pm on Wednesday, July 1, at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
Mary was born October 27, 1926, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Jack Cameron Taylor and Lillian Mae (Yager). The family moved to Wichita Falls where she attended Alamo, Ben Franklin, and Reagan Elementary Schools, Zundelowitz Jr. High, and Wichita Falls High School, where she graduated in 1943 at the age of 16. She graduated from Hardin College, now Midwestern State University. She lived in Brownsville, Texas and Kansas before moving back to Wichita Falls. She worked for American Petrofina, the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce, and Sprague Electric, where she was the Personnel Director. While employed at Sprague, she met and married Eugene (Gene) E. Hayden. They moved to Norfolk, NE in 1977 and El Paso, Texas in 1979, before moving to Granbury, Texas in 1991, after retirement. They moved back to Wichita Falls in 2003. She was member of the North Texas Genealogy Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Daughters of the Confederacy, and was a USO Girl during WWII.
Mary was preceded in Death by her husband of 39 years, her parents, an infant son, Henry Clay Fox, a daughter; Nancie, sister, Lillian (Alcott) Fox and husband Walkie Fox.
She is survived by her daughter; Gisele (Farmer) Herron and husband, Harold, of Wichita Falls, granddaughters; Kelli E. Moore-Valdez and husband, Danny, and Taylor Herron all of Wichita Falls. Grandsons: Jeffory Castledine and wife Teri of Greenwood Village, CO, and step children Susie (Farmer) Zumwalt of Austin, Texas and her son; Marc Patterson and wife Melinda and their children; Andrew and Audrey, of Southlake, TX., Kurt and Teena Hayden and family of Arizona, and Leslie Barnardy and family of Arizona, Great-grandchildren: Kristian Daniel Valdez, of Wichita Falls, Katrina Valdez Green and husband David, of Austin, Kendall Castledine of Colorado, Great-great-grandchildren; Hayden Scott and Laikyn Nycole Valdez of Wichita Falls, Niece Delores Alcott and her children.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to House of Hope 5100 Stone Lake Dr., Hospice of Wichita Falls 4909 Johnson Rd., or the North Texas Genealogical Association.
