Elizabeth was born to the late Monte Zuma and Nina Eavenson on September 23, 1922 in Foard County, Texas. Liz Graduated from Forestburg High School and attended Midwestern State University. She married Olaf W. “Pete” Cox in 1944. They moved to Wichita Falls where she worked at the State Hospital for 41 years. She worked as a ward attendant, a switchboard operator, a credit union collector, a Director of Occupational Therapy, and a Director of Recreational
Therapy.
She was extremely devoted to her friends and family. Liz made special efforts to comfort and spend time with people who were sick or experiencing difficulties. Her hobbies included crafts, such as sewing, knitting, and doll making, but received the most pleasure from cooking for family during special occasions.
Liz is survived by her son, Mike Cox and his wife, Jo Ann; granddaughter Jessica Brown and husband, Kevin; and brother-in-law, Alvin Talley. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, sisters Gerald Weaver and Ann Talley; and brother Jack Eavenson.
A visitation will be held from 6pm to 7:30pm at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home on Friday, April 8, 2016. Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls Chapel at 1pm, Saturday, April 9; burial to follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
