Marion Elizabeth Thomas, age 92, died Thursday, March 31, 2011 in Fort Worth, Texas. Services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Dillard of First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Marion was born September 19, 1918 in Ione, California and grew up in San Francisco, California. She was a graduate of San Francisco City College. She married Edward C. Thomas in 1940, became an Air Force wife, and they were great and loving partners in a 59 year marriage. She was happiest when she felt she was helping others. During Ed’s military career and during retirement she devoted many volunteer hours to The American Red Cross (over 25 years), USAF Family Services, Sheppard AFB Thrift Shop and ICU (Intentional Caring Unit) at First United Methodist Church, Wichita Falls. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls and Chapter EA of P.E.O. She loved her family and her many friends and will be dearly missed by all.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband and her brother, Leonard Yager.
Her survivors include daughters Marla Thomas Boswell of Arlington, Texas, Gayle Thomas Tuma and husband James of Oak Leaf, Texas, sisters-in-law Naomi Yager of Oakland, California, Dorothy Thomas of Auburn, California, a niece Marianne Yager of Danville, Washington, nephews Bob Thomas of Grass Valley, California, Craig Thomas of Auburn, California, and Todd Thomas of San Jose, California.
