Marion M. Millender, Jr., 81, of Iowa Park passed away at his home with his loving wife by his side during the early morning hours of February 5, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, February 10, 2014 at the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with Warren Hall of Allendale Baptist Church officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the U. S. Air Force Honor Guard and Masonic Rites will be conducted under the auspices of Iowa Park Lodge #713 A.F. & A.M. Marion will be laid to rest at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
Marion was born March 15, 1932 in Platter, Oklahoma and was preceded in death by his father Marion Miles Millender Sr., his mother Mildred (Hargis) Millender and his sister Mary Joann Millender.
He was married to his childhood sweetheart, Rose L. Hood on August 19, 1950 and joined the U.S. Air Force on February 11, 1951.
Rose and Marion were true world travelers and their time and travels in the Air Force fueled a passion to see the world.
While in the Air Force, Marion took advantage of the GI bill and studied watchmaking through the Chicago School of Watchmaking. After his retirement from the Air Force, he opened Millender Watch Service in 1972, which he maintained for 35 years.
Marion was an active member of the Masonic Lodges of Iowa Park and Electra. He enjoyed spending time with several local camping and RV clubs and continued his world travels until 2013.
Marion is survived by his wife Rose, his two sons Michael and Max, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
