Louis D. Ozuna, Sr., 79, of Wichita Falls passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 18, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday May 22, 2014 at the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with his brother, Rev. Domingo Ozuna officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
He was born June 24, 1934 in Haskell, TX to late Sylvestre and Aurelia Ozuna. He was a life time lover of baseball and played for “Los Estrellitas” and “Los Apaches” in the early 1950s. He always kept the #11 on his uniform and later his grandchildren used the same number in his honor. He was a Texas Ranger fan from the day the team was founded in 1972. He also worked in the construction industry until he retired. After his retirement, he could be found any day at the kitchen table with a Ranger game on TV and working on a crossword puzzle. He loved his pets Lucky, Buddy, and Cha-Cha.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Juanita Selvera Ozuna. Brothers, Chema Ozuna, Mike Ozuna, and his twin brother Juan Ozuna. And also his great granddaughters Valerina Ramos and Bre’ Anna Ozuna.
He is survived by his loving Companion for the last four years Victoria Gonzales; 9 children Mary Flores, and her husband John of Wichita Falls; Louis Ozuna Jr. of Vernon, TX; Julia Hernandez of Clifton, TX; Rosalie Whitaker of Wichita Falls; Linda Coleman of San Antonio; Victoria Ozuna-Perez and husband Frank of Wichita Falls; Johnny Ozuna of Clifton, TX Tiffany Molina of Wichita Falls; Seneka Ozuna of Waco, TX. His extended family of Linda Mendiola, Richard Gonzales, Delores Trillo, Diana Hernandez, Hope Butterfield, Jason Gonzales, and Mario Corona and their children. Lifelong friend Geraldo Villegas and family. He also had 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
