On Sunday, July 26, 2015, Heaven received another angel when Lori Kristen Farnsworth of Wichita Falls was called home to be with the Lord. Services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 1:00pm at First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls with Rev. Don Pellikan, Associate Minister, officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 2015, at Hampton Vaughan from 6:00-7:30pm. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston.
Lori was born September 21, 1980 in Wichita Falls, TX to Frank and Christi (Cozart) Farnsworth. She attended McGaha Elementary and Barwise Junior High. She was a Top 10 Honor graduate of S.H. Rider High School Class of 1999. Lori played on the Lady Raider basketball team and played violin in the Rider Orchestra. She received 1st place recognition in state for both piano and violin.
During junior high and high school, Lori was an active member of the University United Methodist Youth Group in Wichita Falls.
Lori attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls for one year before transferring to Texas A&M University to complete a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science, both in Civil Engineering. She began her professional career as a Civil Engineer when she moved to Houston, employed first by Jones and Carter, then McDonough Engineering Corporation, and most recently Parsons Brinckerhoff Engineering. She was a licensed professional engineer in the state of Texas.
As a sister of the Chi Omega Fraternity, Lori was a member of the Omicron Theta chapter at MSU and a member of the Xi Kappa chapter at Texas A&M. As a Chi-Omega alumnae, she served as an advisor for the Psi Zeta chapter at the University of Houston.
On August 11, 2012, Lori married the love of her life, Elliott Hovanetz. Together they loved to travel, go to the movies, go to sporting events, participate in running events, and just enjoy each other’s companionship.
Lori was active in both the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Wichita Falls and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in both Houston and Wichita Falls. She most recently participated in the 2015 Wichita Falls Relay for Life survivor lap via FaceTime from her home in Houston.
Lori was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls and attended Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Clint Cozart, her grandparents, Mildred and Warriner Farnsworth, and her great-grandmother, Corine Dillard.
Lori is survived by her husband, Elliott Hovanetz of Houston, her parents Christi and Frank Farnsworth of Wichita Falls, her sister Cara and niece Katherine Farnsworth, and brother Kevin Farnsworth all of Wichita Falls, her grandmother Kitty Cozart of Lakeside City, her aunts and uncles Cathi and Mark Elgin of Lakeside City and Pat and Bill Farnsworth of Austin, her cousins Leah, Victor and Chris Farnsworth of Austin and Trisha Farnsworth and husband Tommy Smith and son Nathan of Shreveport. She is also survived by her in-laws Patricia and Bill Hovanetz of Florida, Andrea and Spencer Hovanetz of Colorado, Rae Ann and Chris Hovanetz of Lufkin, Alyson and Ryan O’Connor of Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.
