.
Lena B. Curtis was born on November 23, 1923, in Georgetown, Texas, the daughter of Jack and Ellie Galbreath. Lena married Cecil Earl Curtis on August 28, 1942, in Albuquerque, NM. With their children, Cecilia and Jack, they enjoyed the life of an Air Force family, being stationed in Georgia, Texas, Kansas, Illinois, and two tours of Japan. Lena worked as Forms Manager for the Air Force Civil Service for over 25 years. She enjoyed square dancing with Cecil, who was a popular caller for many clubs and associations. She also loved gardening and had beautiful flowers and plants surrounding their home wherever they lived. She was a wonderful cook and published her Favorite Recipes of Lena "Amie" Curtis in 2002 with the help of her granddaughters. She could look at a garment, cut out material and sew one just like it without a pattern. Lena released her creativity later in life by painting, especially pink roses. Her last creations were bread-dough roses and yarn-covered clothes hangars, of which she made hundreds and gave to the family members as gifts. She was very interested in history and current events, collected newspapers, and kept detailed memoirs wherever the family went which culminated in writing and publishing her own autobiography, Until Death Do Us Part, A True Love Story in 1994. Sports was her passion, especially the Dallas Cowboys, The Texas Rangers, and The Texas Longhorns. Lena loved God and His Word. She prayed, believed, and lived by it completely. Her most precious earthly possession was her family.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cecil, of 45 years, her daughter, Cecilia Earline Aziere, brothers Moody Galbreath, G. J. Galbreath, Reginald Galbreath; sisters Avis Meixner, Lyndoll "Sister" Dittrich, and Oneta Ferguson.
Lena is survived by one son, Jack Earl Curtis and wife Sandra of Antlers, OK, her son-in-law Ronald Allen Aziere of Fort Worth, TX, 5 grandchildren: Robin and Cory Harris, Candy and Lee Kohrman, Nancy and Jeff Ware, Paul and Mary Curtis of the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, and Julie and Tony Bryant of Antlers, OK. There are 17 great-grandchildren and 12 great- great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
