Karen Walker, resident of Wichita Falls passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 5, 2017. Services will be Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home at 2:00pm. Burial to follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Walker was born on June 30, 1952 to Foxie and Velma Bluford in Montgomery, Alabama. She traveled and lived many places with her family and her dad’s military career, ending with his retirement in Wichita Falls. She graduated from SH Rider High in 1970 and attended a year of finishing school in Dallas. Karen met her husband, Bill Walker in 1971 and the married later that same year. They were married 32 years before his death in 2003. Together they had one daughter, Kimberly. While raising Kim, Karen became an active leader in Girl Scouts, 4-H dog obedience, 4-H Shooting sports as well as a leader at NWTF&S Gun Club. Mrs. Walker was a vet tech at All Pets Animal Hospital for 30 years. Karen was a gifted seamstress and quilter and an active member of the Red River Quilters Association and local guild. Karen was a believer and follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of the Electra Community Church.
Preceding Karen in death are her husband, Bill Walker, a brother Barry Bluford, her parents as well as several cherished hunting buddies. Survivors include: Her daughter, Kim McConnell and husband, Ernie. Grandchildren: Bridget Alaniz and husband, Johnathon, Megan and Mason McConnell (her M&M’s) Brothers: Randy Bluford and wife, Toni. Kelly Bluford and wife, Lisa. Sisters: Deb Johnson and husband, Rick. Kathy Terral and husband, Rick. Numerous nieces and nephews and countless cherished friends.
