A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 26th at 10:00 am at Friberg-Cooper United Methodist Church, 5511 Friberg Church Road, Wichita Falls, TX. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park at a later time.
Mrs. Hodges was born on August 31, 1926 to the Reverend Charles (C.H.) Williams, a Methodist pastor, and Ivy Dell Martin Williams at Lake Creek, Delta County, Texas. She graduated high school in Vernon, TX in May 1943. She was married to the late Charles Thomas Rowland on May 30, 1943, in Knox City Texas. Mr. Rowland passed away on March 13, 1973 in La Porte, Indiana. She married Richard Howard Hodges on September 11, 1980 in Byers, TX. Mr. Hodges passed away on March 13, 2010. Mrs. Hodges served her country as a civil servant for over 30 years. She retired in 1987, returned to federal service a short time later and retired for a final time in 1998. She spent the majority of her career as Secretary to the Chief of Nurses at Sheppard Air Force Base hospital. She was a 60 year member of the Eastern Star, Faith Lodge until her health kept her from attending. She served as Worthy Matron of Electra Chapter 424, Electra, Texas in the 1960s.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bill, Mel, Charles and David, sister Dorothy Shivers, daughter-in-law Debi Connell Rowland and two grandchildren, Jeffery Ray Jansa and Janet Ann Jansa.
Mrs. Hodges is survived by her children, Charles M. Rowland and wife Barbara, Zion, IL, Beverly L. Jansa and husband Phillip, Wichita Falls, C. Sue Thomason and husband Emmett, Carrollton, TX, James T. (Jim) Rowland and wife Jamey, Bella Vista, AR and Dale E. Rowland and wife Shelley, Jacksonville, AR and stepson Frank Charles Hodges, Las Vegas, NV. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Charles Rowland, Christina Rowland, Richard Jansa, Tray Thomason, Nick Thomason, Amanda Creager, Joshua Rowland, Beth Bishop, Emily Rowland, Jason Rowland, Jeremy Rowland and William Rowland, two step-grandsons Bailey Hodges and Zack Chitwood and a step-granddaughter, Abby Giffon as well as 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two Hodges sisters-in-law, Mary Askew and Myrtle Bell and husband Jerry of Wichita Falls.
Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, July 25th at the La Quinta Inn and Suites - MSU Area, 2511 E. Montgomery Place, Wichita Falls, TX 76308 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
