Joe J. Litteken, 86, of Wichita Falls passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011. A Funeral Mass will be recited at 1:00 PM Friday, July 1, 2011 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Sojan George, Celebrant. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 Thursday evening at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with a vigil to begin at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Mr. Litteken was born May 28, 1925 in Wichita Falls to the late J. H. Litteken and Anna (Berend) Litteken and was a lifelong resident. He served as a Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class in the U. S. Navy during World War II and saw action in several notable battles in islands of the Pacific. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and a longtime member, Third Degree, of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1473. He was also a longtime member of the American Legion. Joe worked as an auto body technician here in Wichita Falls for 43 years.
Joe married Wilma Margaret Brown on November 16, 1946 here in Wichita Falls and she preceded him in death in 2007. He is survived by his children, Wayne, Sydney, Samuel, Brian and Brenda Litteken all of Wichita Falls and Patricia Crane of Galveston, TX; a sister Helen Sigler of Wichita Falls; a brother, Arthur Litteken of Windthorst; eight grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
