John Neason age 85, passed on to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, in Wichita Falls, TX. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 AM, on Friday, January 27, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Lakeside City, with Pastor Tommy Free, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home.
John was born on February 25, 1937 in Thornton, TX. to the late A.D. Neason and Lilly Mae (Campbell). He married Charlotte Ann Montgomery on May 23, 1958 in Groesbeck, TX. He retired in 1980 from the U.S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant as an Electrical Superintendent and then worked for Certainteed Fiberglass Plant for 16 years as an electrician and again retired in 1996. During the 21 years in the Air Force he received numerous awards and recognitions, which included the Bronze Star and two Meritorious Service Medals. He and Ann came to Wichita Falls in 1960 and was at Sheppard AFB, 12 years, and also spent tours in Maine, Thailand, Germany and Louisiana before retiring back in Wichita Falls. He is Past Master of Joseph A. Kemp Masonic Lodge, #1287 and a member of the York Rite and Scottish Rite. As a Mason he was a recipient of the Golden Trowel Award, Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas Cornerstone Award, Grand Commandery of Texas Excalibur 2005 Award. He served as District Deputy of the Grand Lodge of Texas and as District Deputy for the Chapter and Council of the Grand Chapter and Grand Council of Texas. He was a member of the Order of High Priesthood, Order of the Silver Trowel, Past Excellent Chief of the Council of Knight Masons, and Past III. Sovereign of Star of Bethlehem Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine Conclave and Past Worth Master of the St. Thomas of Acon Conclave and Past Patron of the J.A. Kemp Eastern Star #970. He has been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeside City and was ordained a Baptist Deacon in 2001. His devotion to his God and Church was noticed by all the Church Families.
Survivors include, wife, Ann of the home, son, John Robert "J.R." Neason and wife Margaret of Houston, daughter, Missy Hatcher and husband Rick of Wichita Falls, granddaughter, Erika Hatcher Lobaugh and husband Kurt of Rogers, Arkansas, grandson, Zachary Hatcher of Wichita Falls, great grandson, Blaze Lobaugh of Rogers, Arkansas, brother, T.G. Neason of Curtis, Washington, sister, Mary Cheek and husband Bill of Dallas and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 6 to 8 PM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview.
