JoAnn Burt

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. The family will be at the funeral home for visitation on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m.

JoAnn was known to her family, friends, and many neighborhood children for her loving nature as mother and “Meme.” Her first job was at a soda fountain in McAlester, Oklahoma, where she met the love of her life, Raymond Burt. JoAnn had many child-centered careers in her lifetime. As a young mother she was a Pediatric nurse for Dr. Slaughter at The Wichita Falls Clinic. She also worked for many years at Wichita Falls High School as ‘the media coordinator’ and as a childcare provider.

On December 31, 2012, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Raymond A. Burt. She was also proceeded in death by her brother, Curtis Skelton.

She is survived by her sister, Kay Campbell of Pennsylvania and brother, Dean Skelton of Arizona; son, Greg Burt and his wife Christina, their son, Rory and his daughter, Debbie Burt Pepper and her husband Brad and her mother Lila Ekey; daughter, Kathy Jackson and her husband Kevin and their children Jonathon and Sarah; daughter Jeanie Smith and her husband James and their children Hannah, Thad, Katie, and Mia, all of Wichita Falls; and beloved nieces and nephews.

The family requests that memorials in JoAnn’s honor be made to Patsy’s House, 1411 10th Street, Wichita Falls, TX, 76301.
