Jeffrey Daniel Gordon, born on August 10, 1972, to Jon and Sarah Gordon in Henrietta, Texas, and passed away on September 26, 2024. Jeff’s exceptional intellect, quick wit, and generous spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Jeff graduated from Henrietta High School in 1991 and attended Midwestern State University. With a natural talent for technology and an insatiable curiosity, Jeff quickly grew restless with the pace of formal education. He taught himself computer programming and mastered numerous operating systems and platforms, launching a career in software development that spanned over three decades. His professional journey included notable roles at Webfire, Lighthouse Technologies, PC Net, iThinc, Crane West, and, most recently, a ten-year tenure at Wichita Falls Independent School District as a Programmer Analyst.
Beyond his professional work, Jeff’s passion for technology led him to develop several innovative projects that benefited both his community and his hobbies. He created *Wichita Alerts*, a website that organizes local 911 dispatch calls into a more user-friendly format, providing vital information to residents for free. He was also the mastermind behind *Savaged.US*, a popular character creation tool for the Savage Worlds role-playing game community, used by gamers worldwide. Jeff’s contributions to the gaming world extended further through his work with Catalyst Game Labs, where he developed similar software for the *BattleTech* universe.
Jeff was an avid role-playing gamer, and he considered his gaming community a second family. In addition to gaming, he enjoyed bicycling, acting at local community theatres, and sailing as a proud member of the Wichita Falls Sailing Club.
While Jeff’s accomplishments were vast, his true passion was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband to his soulmate, Kimberly, and an incredibly proud father to his children, Genevieve and Camlann. He cherished every moment spent with his family, whether it was exploring new adventures, traveling, sharing laughter, or offering support through life’s challenges. His greatest joy was being with them and watching his children grow. He instilled in them a love of learning, a sense of integrity, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world.
Jeff is survived by his father, Jon Gordon; his beloved wife, Kimberly Gordon; his children, Genevieve Moyer and Camlann Varelman; and his grandson, Jensen Nelson. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Gordon.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Park Place Christian Church in Wichita Falls, Texas. All who knew and loved Jeff are invited to attend as we remember and honor the incredible impact he made on our lives.
