James Robert “Jim” Lovelace, 81, of Wichita Falls died Monday, October 31, 2011 at his home. Services have been scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2011 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Dr. Ike Butterworth. Entombment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
Jim was born September 30, 1930 in Florence, AL to Robert and Ruth (McClure) Lovelace. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Jim earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Vanderbilt University in Tennessee where he also played football for them. He worked as a manager for Mike Shallenburger for a number of years at his Big and Tall Shop and later at Saf-T-Lock. Jim was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the local Elks Lodge. He loved to fish and camp, especially when his children were younger, and loved to go ballroom dancing.
Mr. Lovelace is preceded in death by his wife, Cathi Lovelace in 1988; and his parents.
Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Ronald and Deborah Lovelace of Blacksburg, VA, Sylvia Sands and Ron Erin of San Monica, CA, David and Katie Lovelace of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren, Bryant Sands, Jacob Sands, Stephen Lovelace, Eric Lovelace; one great-grandson, Taylor.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service 12:00-1:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2011 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
