She was saved and baptized when she was 14 years old at a revival meeting in Bellevue, TX. At an early age she loved to paint and draw. Her Father enrolled her in oil painting classes when she was in the third grade. She graduated Salutatorian from Bellevue High School. She received several scholarship opportunities, and she chose to study at Hardin Junior College, now Midwestern State University. She continued her study of art under Ima Pendergrass and Jon Bodkin, Hardin professors. She also studied under Alfred Morang, of Taos, NM. Ilma Lucille’s art training opened many doors for her. She was the first display specialist for the Army-Air Force Exchange Service, taking her to many states organizing merchandise displays. She worked at Exchange Service headquarters in Manhattan, before returning to Wichita Falls, to care for her mother. She worked for Perkins-Timberlake and McClurkan’s Department Stores as the window display artist. Lucille was truly gifted. She designed and made costumes for Irina & Frank Pal’s Nutcracker Ballet and Midwestern State University’s Theatre Dept. She also made Christmas Nativity costumes for Southside Baptist and First Christian churches. She loved her church and her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Braddie Craft. She is survived by several cousins and dear friends.
