Hattie Lee Linville of Wichita Falls joined her Lord & Savior on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 after a brief illness at the age of 86. She was surrounded by her family and the wonderful nurses at Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Mrs. Linville was born December 12, 1926 in Bridgeport, TX to Aulsie and Mary Holt. She graduated from Paradise High School in Paradise, TX and married the love of her life, William Wilson Linville in 1946. They were married 51 blessed years before his passing in 1997. One of 7 children, she was no stranger to hard work, loving family and love of Jesus, hence she instilled all of this and more in her children. Everyone who met Hattie loved her and in the latter years most referred to her as “Miss Hattie”.
Working at the Minute Coffee Shop in Bridgeport, TX at age 19, Hattie spotted a customer unknown to her and stated “I’m going to marry that man”. That she did and they spent 51 years as husband and wife and partners for life until his passing. This love blessed them with three children, 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Most of her career years were spent working as a bookkeeper for various car dealerships and retiring with Whites Auto Home Office in Wichita Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three siblings; Margaret Fuller, Robert Holt, Johnny Holt and also a son-in-law, Jim Morris. Surviving siblings include Dorothy Parsons, Nellie Clark and Irene Murphy, along with many nieces and nephews.
Hattie is survived by three children, Carolyn Morris of McKinney, TX, Walter Linville and wife Rebecca of Irving, TX and Mary Holt and husband Gary of Iowa Park, TX. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Taunya Vestal and husband Todd, Brittany Ames and husband Leon, Kimberly Gentemann and husband James; David Kincade and wife Sheila; as well as nine beautiful great grandchildren, Gunner, Cade, Halleigh, Kingston, Kenyon, Kirk, Allen, Elisabeth and Bruce Ryan.
Hattie was a member of Faith Village Church of Christ in Wichita Falls and resided in Wichita Falls since 1974. The family wishes to thank Debbie Breeding for her never ending love and care of their Mother and Grandmother for the last couple of years. Debbie exemplified a true and caring “caregiver” and Mother loved her so.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel with Charlie Thomason officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday evening at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
