He was born on June 28, 1929 In Womelstrof, PA, to Charles W. Dunlap and Margaret E. Yeiser Dunlap. Smokey graduated High School in Springfield, NJ in 1948. He was an Air Force Class E-7 Security Police Supervisor Master Sergeant and Police Supervisor Master Sergeant and served a combined 22 years in the Air Force. Smokey was married to Julie A. Kaczetow from 1971 until her death in 1982. Smokey was then married to Jimmie Berry from 1991 until her death in 2015. Smokey was an avid sports fan. His 2 favorite sports were Baseball and Golf. Smokey was wanted by the NY Yankees Minor League club out of High School, but he turned it down to enlist in the Air Force. He coached his sons’ basketball, baseball, and football teams in his younger days, but never lost his love of watching and rooting his kids and grandkids in sports and in life. Many that knew him simply called him Coach. Later in life, you could always find Smokey on the golf course. Smokey always had a few jokes handy to make you laugh and brighten your day. Anyone who knew Smokey never wanted for anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister, Doris and 2 sons, Cody and Tommy Brewer.
Survivors include son, Jerry Dunlap and wife, Stephanie form Wichita Falls, TX, son, Terry Dunlap and wife, Lou from Benton, LA, daughter, Cherry Brewer from Wichita Falls, TX. Grandchildren, Sidney Dunlap, Kaitlyn Dunlap, Krystal and Justin Jeffery, Travis and LeAnn Blanchard, RJ Jones, Justin Jones, Dusty Brewer, Kamy Holloway and Amy Brewer. Great Grandkids, Nathan Jeffery, Harlie Blanchard and numerous more.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 6-8 P.M. at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, service will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 1 P.M. in the Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel, Burial will immediately follow service at Crestview Memorial Park.
