Gaila J. Smith

Passed away with her family by her side on July 19,2023. Gaila was born in Wichita Falls, TX on March 22, 1943 to Bill and Audrey Ware. She attended Wichita Falls schools, graduating from Wichita Falls High School. She married Virgil Smith, Junior on March 28,1964. Together the had three sons, Matthew, Mark and Michael.

She stayed home raising her family for 20 years then started a career with WFISD as a paraprofessional until her retirement. Gaila had a servants heart and supported her family in everything they did, from helping with her grandchildren, to being her boys’ biggest fan at the race track. She leaves behind her husband of almost 60 years, Virgil; her three sons Matthew and wife, Laura; Mark and wife, Lara; Michael and wife, Penny. She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Beyond Faith Hospice.

Visitation will be Sunday July 23, 2023 from 3-5 PM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 10 Monday July 24, 2023 at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, TX.
