G. W. Butler, Jr., 91, of Wichita Falls died Monday, April 16, 2012 at a local rehab center. Services have been scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Thursday April 19, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Charlie Thomason. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
G. W. was born January 16, 1921 in Tipton, OK to Olla Mae (Johnson) and G.W. Butler, Sr. He served our country in the Army Air Corps. G.W. married Gerry Sutherlin July 28, 1946 in Amarillo, TX and together they raised two children. He co-owned B-Mac Electric. He was a faithful member and past Deacon of Faith Village Church of Christ. He and his wife loved to travel and were members of the Rocking Wheels Chapter of the Good Sam’s Travel Club. He loved to go fishing when he was younger. The Christmas season required his award-winning peanut brittle. He was an avid Rangers fan.
Mr. Butler is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Gerry Butler in 2008; parents, G.W. Butler, Sr. and Olla Mae Butler; sisters, Mary Sue Littell, Sylvia Camp, and Joyce Kelley.
Survivors include his devoted children and their spouses, Bill and Sharon Butler of Carrollton, Jane and Danny Minniear of Wichita Falls; sister, Udell Harrellson of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren, Greg Butler, Doug Butler, Jennifer and husband Stephen Alexander, Jessica Minniear, Julie Minniear; and one great-granddaughter, Braelyn Alexander.
Visitation will be held 7:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday April 18, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
