Eva Estelle Sims passed away Saturday, August 22, at her home in Granbury, Texas at the age of 95. She was born in Holliday, Texas on March 26, 1920. She is predeceased by her Father, Ira Washington Black, and mother, Ada Elizabeth Black, first husband, Dale Woods, infant son, Jon Dale Woods, second husband, Herbert Sims and step son Stanley Sims. Brothers, Andrew Jackson Black, Herman Hudson Black, Theophilus Black, and Lester Black. Sister, Lassie Mae Black.
She was employed in 1944 as a fiscal accounting clerk at Pearl Harbor as one of the many Texas hostesses directly in war work. She worked as a bookkeeper for George Graham until she retired. She loved working in her garden, riding her bike, bowling, and most of all serving the lord. Her family remember her most for her love and faith for God. Estelle was a devoted Christian and attended Floral Heights Church of Christin Wichita Falls, Texas most of her life.
Estelle is survived by a step-son, Edward Sims. Nieces, Pamela Bush, her husband, Jerry Bush, Judy Walker from Granbury, Texas, and Peggy Peck, her husband, Jack Peck from Waco. Nephew Don Black, his wife Kay Black from Granbury. She had several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on August 24 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on August 25 at 1:00 pm at Hampton Vaughan; Burial to follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
