Emma Sue (Pruitt) Perkins, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 7, 2021 in Wichita Falls. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 6pm to 8pm at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11am, at Crestview Cemetery with Rev/Rod Payne officiating from First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.
Emma was born February 16, 1936, to John Louis Pruitt and Lona Amelia (Cosby) Pruitt in Hobart, Oklahoma. Emma attended schools in Hobart, Oklahoma.
She married Robert Virgil Perkins Jr, on July 23, 1951 in Vernon, Texas. Emma attended Bethania School of Nursing and earned her LVN degree. She was valedictorian of her class and held the highest state board score for many years. After working for several doctors, she became an instructor for Bethania School of Nursing and continued to be an instructor after Vernon Junior College took over the LVN program at Bethania Hospital.
After retiring, Emma and her husband enjoyed traveling, fishing, spending time with their grandchildren and camping in their motor home. She was a member of First Baptist Church here in Wichita Falls, where she sang in the Glory Choir.
Emma is preceded in death by her beloved husband; her parents; three sisters; Beatrice (Pruitt) Braun, Evelyn (Pruitt) Phillips and Lona Mae (Pruitt) Parras.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamala Jane (Perkins) Thompson and her husband Kenneth E Thompson and Amelia Dee (Perkins) Turnbow; a son, Robert L Perkins and his wife, Barbara (Werner) Perkins; a brother, John Louis Pruitt and his wife Jean Pruitt; 12 grandchildren: Brad J Turnbow and wife Carrie, Jason M. Prine, Jeremy M. Prine, Heather M. (Prine) Johnson and husband Cody, Bryan J Turnbow and wife Francie, Christopher Perkins and wife Brianna, Cozy S (Perkins) Galindo and husband Dennis, Shan Walker and husband Steven, Brian A Thompson and wife Leslie, Kenny Brent Thompson and wife Tracey, James Plemmons and his partner Stacey Perkins, Timothy D Plemmons and wife Tina Carroll-Plemmons, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Emma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will truly be missed by all her loved ones. Until we meet again we will always love and remember you.
Memorials can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, America Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association or First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.
