Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2024 in the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 before the service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Doris was born on January 4, 1934, to Tip and Louis (Powell) Martin in Cedar Glades, Arkansas. Doris grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Oden High School. Doris spent most of her adult life being a homemaker and mother to nine children.
In October of 1971, Doris, a single parent of four, trying to make it on her own, left work because of illness and discovered that she had no telephone service. A Southwestern Bell technician came to repair her phone only to find that it was working fine. This began a love story that both Doris and Wally loved to tell anyone that would listen. Wally and Doris were married on December 2, 1971. Wally brought his three daughters to the marriage and Doris brought two sons and two daughters, then, in 1973, Doris and Wally had twin boys. Two families became one and God blessed this union for 51 years.
Doris is survived by, daughter, Sherry Thomas (Rick) of Wichita Falls, son, Michael Dozier (Julie) of Iowa Park, son, Eric Smith (Misty) of Burkburnett, daughter, Karen Ralston and Cindy Blair (Randy) of Iowa Park, daughter, Renee Simpkins (Chris) of Mansfield TX, son in law, Bill Streich of Holliday Tx, and daughter in law, Kay Dozier of Wichita Falls. Doris was known as” Mamaw” to twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Doris and her late husband, Wallace, were charter members of Lakeview Church of God in Iowa Park and faithfully served there until their health prohibited them from attending regularly.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace, her mother, Louise Ault, her father, Tip Martin, her brother, Albert Martin and her sister, Jewell White. She was also preceded by her sons, Lynn Dozier and Aaron Smith and her daughter, Nelda Streich, sons in law, Teddy Ralston, and Ervin Beisch. Grandchildren that preceded Doris in death are Justin Denton and Evan Taylor.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Texhoma Christian Care Center for the excellent care they have given Doris. They also would like to thank Hospice of Wichita Falls for caring for her.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Texhoma Christian Care Center or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
