Dillard is survived by his wife, Audra Maxine Walters, of Wichita Falls; his daughter Tina Gurney of Roachdale, Indiana; two stepsons: David Jacobi, Jr of Spring, Tx and wife Robin; Tim Jacobi of Iowa Park, Tx and wife Marcia. Brothers: Larry Walters of California; Rodney Walters of Plainfield, Indiana and wife Sue. Sisters: Eullita Irvin and husband Ray of Martinsville, Indiana; Gloria Walters of Indianapolis, Indiana and Marcia Trackwell of Greenwood, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his mother Cynthia and father John C. Walters; stepmother Mary; three sons: Herbert C. Walters of Bainbridge, Indiana, Mark Walters and Harold Walters of Indiana.
Dillard was born on June 23, 1932 in Owen County Indiana to John C. and Cynthia Walters. He graduated from New Winchester High School in 1950 and immediately joined the Air Force. After discharge, he continued his career as an aircraft electrician with DynCorp where he worked for several years.
Dillard was a great family man and a loving father and doting grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Dillard was a social, active man who was deeply involved in his church as a deacon for the majority of his life. He enjoyed running marathons and traveling with his wife. His family and friends will always remember him as a very friendly and loving person.
A funeral service is scheduled for Monday, October 1, at 2:00p.m. and visitation at 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. Sunday, September 30 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home on Archer City Highway. Online condolences to the family may be left at www.hamptonvaughancrestview.com
