Dewey Michell “Mike” Chancellor passed away at the age of 76 on October 3, 2024, following a “struggle” with ALS. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Born in Wichita Falls, TX, on July 16, 1948, to Dewey Lilburn Chancellor and Lucille Carr Chancellor, he was a proud graduate of Hirschi High School in 1966. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Navy, where he served as an aircraft hydraulic mechanic aboard the USS Ticonderoga and the USS John F. Kennedy. He served in the Navy for four years.
Upon returning home, he met his sweetheart while working at Bethania Hospital, and they were married on July 1, 1972. Together, they shared a love of travel, fulfilling their bucket list goal of visiting all 50 states and several European countries. In April 1973, he joined the United States Air Force, where he served for 21 years before retiring on August 1, 1990. Following his military career, he continued his service to the country in civil service at Sheppard Air Force Base for the next 24 years. Dewey was a faithful Christian and served as a deacon and later as an elder at the Floral Heights Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathryn Norris Chancellor; his daughter, April Gresham, and her husband, Thomas; his son, Clint Chancellor, and his wife, Marisol; and his grandchildren, Zachary and Ben Gresham, and Maya and Emilia Chancellor. He is also survived by his brother, Steve Chancellor; his sister, Joanne Cameron, and her husband, Chris; along with many other beloved family members.
Visitation will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 6 to 8 PM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home and graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10 AM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park.
