Darlene Rhoades, 58, of Wichita Falls died Friday, October 21, 2011 at a local hospital. A graveside service has been scheduled for family and special friends at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Crestview Memorial Park officiated by Brother Gerald Bryant and directed by Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. A public memorial service for all who loved Darlene is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2011 at First Pentecostal Church of God, also officiated by Brother Gerald Bryant.
Darlene was born September 15, 1953 in Wichita Falls to Leroy and Lois (Crain) Ford. She married William Chester Rhoades March 1, 1978 in Wichita Falls and together they had two children. She has lived in Wichita Falls and Bowie her entire life. Darlene was an active member of First Pentecostal Church of God. She volunteered for most anything to do with the church, and was especially good at fundraisers. Before becoming disabled, she also volunteered for Meals-On-Wheels and was involved with Headstart and Bowie PTA for her children.
Mrs. Rhoades is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chester Rhoades in 1990; parents, Leroy and Lois Ford; grandson, Roger Casper Bridges; two brothers, Roy Lee and Wayne Ford; three sisters, Louise King, Glenda Ford, Patsy Tellez; and grandparents, Albert and Mirty Crain, and Lee and Frankie Ford.
Survivors include her two children, Albert Rhoades and Lois Ann Rhoades both of Wichita Falls; sisters and brothers-in-law, twin Charlene and George Weitzel of Wichita Falls, Annette and Walter Minderman of Iowa Park; brother and sister-in-law, David and Deborah Ford of Wichita Falls; and four adored grandchildren, Justin Bridges, Summer Bridges, Cameron Bridges, and Kaitlyn Lopez.
