Clarence was born on August 15, 1935, in Waurika Oklahoma, to Preston Scruggs and Eva Louise Hopson Scruggs. He graduated from high school in Ryan, Oklahoma. He then married the love of his life, LaVesta Lou Boyd, on July 9, 1955, in Sugden Oklahoma. They made their home in Wichita Falls and raised their four children: Sonny, Jeff, Vonda and Terri.
He was a good provider for his family, and worked three jobs at one point in his life so that his wife did not have to leave home. He retired in 1992 after faithfully serving as an electrician for TXU for over forty years. He loves his family, and went above and beyond to make them happy…always. He enjoyed joking, regardless of adverse circumstances, and found pleasure in making everyone around him laugh. He was truly a selfless man who was known for putting the needs of others always before his own.
As much as he cherished his family, he loved and worshiped the Lord with all of his heart and soul. He lived to bring others to Christ, and his goal was to make certain that everyone he loves is in heaven with him. Everyone who crossed his path, no matter how briefly, learned of his dedication to God and his mission to lead them to Jesus.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers William Scruggs, Bobby Scruggs and Steve Spivey.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his wife LaVesta; his children: Sonny Scruggs (Rosey), Jeff Scruggs (Christina), Vonda Moulder (Donald Sheffield) and Terri Hander (Jason); Sisters Anna Brown (Henry), Mary Henry, Shirley Neuser (Randy); Brothers Thomas Scruggs and Eddie Scruggs; Sister-In-Law Shirley Spivey; Grandchildren Randall Scruggs (JoBetsy), Jennifer Smith (Freddie), Dillon Scruggs, Erin Scruggs, Chase Hander and Austin Hander; Great Grandchildren Ally Scruggs, Kenadi Moulder and Jay Smith.
A celebration of Clarence’s life will be held on Monday, December 16th, at 1:00 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, with visitation scheduled preceding the service from 11-1. Interment will follow at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park.
