Charlotte Grey Blessing, 83, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020 in Burkburnett. She was born on January 16, 1937 in Garrett, Kentucky to the late David Wallen and Irene Bailey Wallen. She graduated in 1953 from Culver High School in Culver, Indiana and then attended Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. She was married for 45 years to the love of her life Orville Blessing, who preceded her in death in 2002. Charlotte and Orville loved to travel and camp together.
Charlotte, known far and wide as “Char”, worked in Administrative Services for many years at Culver Academies in Culver, Indiana. She also worked as an aide with special needs children, as well as working at the State Exchange Bank in Culver, IN. One of her earliest jobs was as a telephone operator in the “number please” days.
Charlotte was a member of Grace Church in Wichita Falls. She played the piano and sang at church and at home all her life, a talent that she passed along to her daughters. Char was always making people laugh. She was a good friend and encourager to many. If you knew Char, you loved her. She loved her grandchildren and was never happier than when she was surrounded by her family. After enjoying a long life, she was ready to be reunited with Orville and see her Savior in Heaven.
She is survived by her children, Marcia Madsen (Perry Kunkel) of Wichita Falls, Shara Spicer (Rick) of Wichita Falls, and Nancy Kruyer (John) of Argos, Indiana; grandchildren, Ryan and partner Jennifer, Kristina and husband Robert, Luke and wife Crystal, Alex and wife LeAndra, Jacob and wife Amber, Zack, Jessica, Emily, Krista, Matt and Adam; great grandchildren, Lexi, Michaela, Brooke, Autumn, Lyla, Kennedy, Ryan, Noah and Kaylee; sisters, Sandy Wallen of Anderson, Indiana and Vivian Eidemiller of Warsaw, Indiana; one brother, Gary Wallen and wife Janet of Plymouth, Michigan, and sister-in-law Kaye Wallen Fehr. She was preceded in death by one brother, Mike Wallen.
No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home.
