She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, in the home of her daughter and son in law, James and Veronica Chandler.
Celia was born on July 9, 1931 in Alpine, Texas. She is the daughter of the late Fransisco and Valentina Subia. She married the love of her life, the late Reinaldo Sapata on January 15, 1948. They spent 61 beautiful years together and had 5 daughters and 3 sons. Celia was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her family meant the world to her and she loved being a homemaker more than life itself. Her door was always open to anyone, and over the years she took in and raised many children like they were her own. Besides taking care of family, she enjoyed crocheting the most beautiful blankets and gave them as gifts to everyone. She also loved to cook. Everyone loved her food, it is one of the things she will be most remembered for by family and friends. Celia was a God fearing woman and loved her church- Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Where she has been a member since 1978 and attended church faithfully. She was one of a kind, beautiful inside and out, and lived a long beautiful life. Granny will be truly missed by her family.
She is survived by her 5 daughters: Mary Trevino and husband Samuel, Selinda Martinez and husband Pete, Veronica Chandler and husband James, Erica Esquibel and husband Carlos, all of Wichita Falls, Texas, Betty Moore and husband Mike Sr. of Shawnee, Oklahoma, son: Reinaldo Sapata,Jr. of Wichita Falls, Texas; sister: Stella Guerra, and 2 brothers: Manuel and Frank Subia. Along with 21 grandkids, 41 great-grandkids, and thirteen great-great-grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her husband Reinaldo Sapata, 2 sons: Longino and Orlando Sapata; sister: Esperanza Subia and brother Raymond Subia.
The family would like to show their gratitude to her amazing caretakers: Karrie Rincon and great-granddaughter: Dawson Easley. They both shared a special bond with Granny and went out of their way to take care of her. They would also like to thank the Pallbearers, her grandsons, Pete and Anthony Martinez, James and Brodie Chandler, Stephen Head, Michael and William Moore, Lorenzo Sapata, and Chance Trevino.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 6 – 7 PM at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home, with a Rosary following at 7 PM. Funeral Services will be held 10 AM, Friday, November 3, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow immediately at Crestview Memorial Park.
