Barbara Joan Payne

Joan Payne, 71, of Wichita Falls died Monday, December 21, 2011 at a local hospice. A graveside service has been scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 23, 2011 at the mausoleum chapel in Crestview Memorial Park directed by Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

Joan was born April 28, 1940 in Fredrick, OK to Tom and Billie (Sanders) Woodress. In 1964 she married Jesse L. Payne in Wichita Falls. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She loved gardening and watching her flowers and roses growing. She was a wonderful cook, always bringing her Banana Nut Cake and Christmas fruit salad to family gatherings. She loved Christmas and making sure everyone had a Christmas gift. But her pride and joy were her two grandchildren.

Mrs. Payne is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesse L. Payne in 2004; and father, Tom Woodress in 1989.

Survivors include her mother, Billie Woodress of Altus, OK; sons and daughters-in-law, Stacey and Dena Payne, Kelly and Cathy Payne all of Wichita Falls; sisters and brother-in-law, Sherry Woodress, Kim and Billy Butcher; brothers and sister in-law, Von and Jill Woodress, Mark Woodress all of Altus, OK; two grandchildren, Bodie and wife Emily Payne, Brooke Payne; and one great-grandson, Keen Payne.
