Margaret Theresa Kelly Kurtz, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on August 20, 2024, after a brave battle with breast cancer. Born on October 20, 1944, in East Orange, NJ, to Florence Widner Kelly and Matthew Kelly, Marge lived a life that embodied love, strength, humor, and unwavering devotion.
Marge had an idyllic childhood on the hill in Morganville with her parents and her brothers; Jack, Matthew, Joseph,James and her sisters: Anne, Florence, Jean. Marge then moved to the community of Freehold, where she spent the majority of her adult life. In her later years, she moved to Whiting to be closer to her family. Her heart was devoted to her children, Kelly Kurtz Stapleton and Jack Kurtz, and her legacy shines through her treasured grandchildren: Anna Kurtz, Michael Stapleton, Cutter Stapleton, and Kaye Elizabeth Stapleton.
Marge is survived by her children and her siblings, Matt Kelly, Florence Kisley, and Jean Kerekes. She also leaves behind a multitude of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness.
A service to honor Marge’s life will be held at Anderson Campbell FH, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting on Sunday, August 25th. The viewing will take place from 2 PM to 4 PM, followed by a funeral service celebrating her life. A dinner will be provided to gather in remembrance and love.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Marge’s name, reflecting her spirit of compassion and commitment to helping others. Margaret Theresa Kelly Kurtz will be remembered for her strength, love, and humor. Her legacy of warmth and generosity will continue to inspire those who were blessed to have known her.
