Lorraine Frances Valdes, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, September 1st 2021. Lorraine was born February 10, 1929 and was raised in Jersey City, before moving to the “suburb” of Irvington where she and her loving husband, Manny, raised their two children. She along with her husband spent their retirement years down the shore, riding dune buggies with their closest friends. In her later years she became the most loving and doting “Nana” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lorraine was filled to the top with love. She was known for keeping a warm, loving home with a full table of friends and family. Lorraine was also known as a tremendous cook, therefore it if wasn’t for her loving and infectious attitude that brought her family together, it would have been her meatballs and sauce. Over her lifetime she enjoyed crafting, reading, sitting on her front porch, playing cards with the girls, holding everyone and anyone’s hand, and a good cup of tea.
Lorraine is predeceased by her husband Manuel Valdes, her son Raymond Valdes and her daughter Lorraine Hyman. Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren, her granddaughter Sara Whitney and her husband Douglas and her grandson Raymond Valdes, his wife Shannon and her great grandchildren Lorissa, Steele and Rya Valdes.
A visitation for Lorraine will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St James Cemetery, Rt 9, Woodbridge, NJ 07095.
