Kathryn was born in Cherryvale, Kansas in 1921 and grew up in a farming family. She was the first one in her family to graduate from high school, leave the farm and obtain a well-paying job in Kansas City. When WWII broke out she left her job to volunteer as one of the first WAACS. She was stationed in Fort Detrick, MD as clerk-typist. Having a very high security clearance, she worked on government projects combating chemical warfare.
After the war she moved to NJ with her husband Ernest and worked as a medical transcriptionist, and later in the Department of Transportation. She also served as President of the Educational Secretary’s Association in Jersey City.
In 1986 she earned an Associate of Arts degree from Thomas Edison State College.
She was active for several years in the VFW of Dover, NJ.
Kathryn was pre-deceased by her first husband, Ernest H Bartsch, her 2nd husband, Harry Langley, and her daughter, Laura Bartsch Schubert.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Linda, and son-in-law Sam McCormick of Randolph, NJ, and her son-in-law Walter Schubert of Whiting, NJ.
She is lovingly remembered and missed by her grandchildren; Mike McCormick and his wife Kristen of London, England, Sara McCormick of Randolph NJ, Bonnie and her husband Ross Wilson of East Brunswick, NJ, and Brian Schubert of Highland Park, NJ. She also has one great-grandchild, Anna Elizabeth McCormick of London, England.

Burial will follow at the Brigadier Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstow, NJ
