Edward E. Russakow, 73, a lifelong resident of Lakehurst, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. Eddie was proud to be born on Main Street in Toms River. He graduated from Central Regional High School and went on to further his education in the field of Fire Science. As a teenager, he joined the family business of Harry’s Liquor in Lakehurst and later worked in construction with Local #172.
Ed was a lifelong member of the Lakehurst Volunteer Fire Department Station #62, starting during his teenage years. In January of 1972, Eddie was appointed a District Fire Warden in Section B-6 District 3 running engine B-38. He went on to work full-time for the NJ Forest Fire Service in June of 2000 as a Fire Control Technician assigned to Coyle Field.
Ed was a Charter Member, Trustee & Tailgunner of the Shore Syndicate Chapter of Blood By Fire Motorcycle along with being the ever present sponsor of Prospect Bones. He took great pride in his love of family, the Forest Fire Service and his passion for motorcycles and The Brotherhood. He was a Piney through and through, an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, crabbing…anything outdoors. Most of all, he cherished his large, adoring family and will be dearly missed.
Ed was predeceased by his grandparents, Julius Malak & Mary Ella Anderson; his parents, Edward Russakow & Anna May Malak; his spouses, Lois “Snookie” Ford and Cherie Fisher; his daughter, Lori Russakow-Peer; his granddaughter, Sierra Fisher; and his faithful companion, Gus.
He is survived by his 4 children, Kimberly Russakow-Howarth and her husband Russell, Russell Fisher, Sr. and his wife Jessica, Stacy Russakow and her significant other Tammy Wright, and Shanan Fisher-Gilby and her husband Jason; his son-in-law, Richard Peer; 12 grandchildren, Ashley and her fiancé Trent, Cassandra, Robyn, Nichole and her husband Kevin, Rebecca and her significant other Richard, Shealyn, Dacoda and her fiancé Isaiah, Sr., Desiree, Emily, Russell, Jr. and Xavier; and 7 great-grandchildren, Jayda, Maci, Michael, Jr., Aviana, Nola, Soraya and Isaiah, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 10am to 1pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd. Whiting, NJ. A Fireman’s Procession and Last Call past Station #62 will follow visitation on the way to Entombment at Whiting Memorial Park in Whiting, NJ at 2pm.
