Doris Heyns was called home by her Savior on May 13, 2020. She was preceded in death by
her beloved husband, Bill, and her son, John. She is survived by her daughter Carol and her
husband Dan, and sons Doug (and wife Mary), Matt, Dave (and wife Lynn), Garrett (and wife
Michelle), as well as 11 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Industrious and diligent, she was “never bored” and wrote she “learned how to spray paint,
bang out dents, put up wallpaper, build a dormer, paint a house, clean out a bilge, caulk a boat hull,
weld, do electrical work, plumbing, gardening, pour cement, adjust a carburetor, build an amplifier and test hi fi equipment.” In her spare time she was an accomplished and prolific knitter, and her creations
are treasured keepsakes. She was kind, patient, witty, and resourceful, and blessed the lives of
all those who knew her. “I thank my Lord and Savior that He took a sinner such as I, and
through His grace, saved me.”
