Darrin Mark Payne was born on June 21, 1963, in Neptune, New Jersey. He departed this life on July 16, 2012. Mark was the beloved son of Hattie V. Payne and the late Chief Harold R. Payne Sr. Mark attended grade school in Whiting, NJ and graduated from Manchester Twp. High school, Manchester, NJ in 1981. Mark was proud to serve his community as a patrolman for the Manchester Twp. Police department for 17 years. Mark was also a member of the department’s Honor Guard and represented the township with pride.
After leaving the Police Department, Mark moved to Scottsdale AZ, where he was the founder and co-owner of a unique family-style restaurant. While in Arizona, he also found himself drawn back to his passion for law enforcement work, and he established his own private investigation company, "M and M Eyes." Recently, Mark felt the pull of his hometown roots, and he returned to Manchester Township, where he worked as a security officer, for Marion Security Agency, until his sudden passing.
Mark had an infectious smile that could light up a room. His exuberance attracted the attention of all who knew him, and his skills as a gifted storyteller often made him the “life of the party”. He loved his family and wanted nothing less than the best for them.
Mark will be missed by all whose lives he touched. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Hattie Payne; four children, Darrin Jr. (21), Desiree (20), Marcus (19), and Briana (15).
